How to Set Up Offline Camera Alerts on Your Montavue NVR

Security cameras going offline can be incredibly frustrating. But even worse? Not knowing they are offline.

An unnoticed offline camera creates a major security blind spot, leaving your home or business vulnerable. The faster you know a camera has dropped its connection, the faster you can troubleshoot the issue and secure your property.

Fortunately, you can easily stay informed by setting up instant alerts via email or push notifications through the MontavueGo2.0 app. In this guide, we will walk you through exactly how to be notified whenever a camera goes offline.

Step 1: Set Up Your Base Notifications

Before we can tell your system to alert you about offline cameras, we need to make sure your NVR is successfully connected to your email or your smartphone app.

Choose your preferred notification method (or both!) and follow our step-by-step setup guides:

Step 2: Enable Offline Alerts in MontavueGo2.0

If you are using the MontavueGo2.0 app to receive push notifications on your smartphone, you need to explicitly tell the app to listen for offline camera events.

Here is how to enable it in the app:

  1. Open the MontavueGo2.0 app and navigate to Device Details.

    2. Click on Multi-channel Alarm Subscription.

    3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Other Alarms.

    4. Look near the top of the next page and toggle on IPC Offline Alarm.

Step 3: Configure "CAM Offline" Settings on Your NVR

Once your notification methods are set up and the app is ready to receive them, the final step is to enable the offline alerts directly on your NVR. This tells the recording unit to push the warning out to your phone or email.

Follow these steps on your NVR interface:

  1. Navigate to the Main Menu on your NVR.

  2. Click on Alarm.

  3. Navigate to Alarm-in Port.

  4. Select the CAM Offline tab.

  5. Enable this feature for each individual camera you want to monitor and don't forget to apply changes.

For Email Users: If you want to receive these alerts via email, you must ensure the Send Email checkbox is marked on this page. You may need to click the "More" button near the bottom of the screen to find this checkbox.

Eliminate Security Blind Spots Today

By following these simple steps, you guarantee that you are always in the loop regarding your surveillance system's health. Setting up NVR camera offline alerts ensures that if a camera goes dark, you are the first to know, allowing you to fix the blind spot and keep your property secure.
