Your Step-by-Step Installation Guide
With your Montavue Complete NVR Security Systems ready, getting your hardware mounted correctly is straightforward. Follow these core steps for a smooth setup:
-
Test the Camera Unmounted: Before drilling, quickly connect your camera to the NVR to ensure it powers on and gives you a clear image.
-
Use the Drill Template: Stick the included drill template directly to your mounting surface to perfectly align your holes for the screws and wall anchors.
-
Run the Cable: Try to place the camera where you can run the cable through the wall to hide the cable so they aren’t visible to avoid someone cutting the cable. Common installs are in the ceiling, soffits, or on the side of buildings.
-
Adjust the Lens Angle: Once mounted, physically adjust the camera lens to capture your targeted field of view, making sure to avoid obstructions.
Expert Tips for Security Camera Placement
All Montavue cameras, except our indoor PTZ camera, are weatherproof with IP67 ratings. You can place your security cameras where you need them most. Consider these best practices, standard IP67 weather rating guidelines to protect your investment.
Maximizing Visibility and Deterrence
-
Avoid Glare: Avoid pointing directly at light sources – this may cause a glare.
-
Clear the View: Additionally, try and avoid where a tree or bush may sway close to the camera to avoid unnecessary motion alerts.
-
Strategic Deterrence: If you want to deter people, try and place in obvious areas, as just the sight of a security camera will deter many individuals.
Protecting Your Equipment
-
Stay Out of Reach: Place cameras out of reach – try and place cameras out of reach to reduce the threat of vandalism. As all of our cameras are made of a metal housing they are strong and can endure vandalism up to a certain amount, no camera is vandal resistant.
-
Seek Shelter: To get better images during rain, snow, or ice, try to place in sheltered areas. It also extends the life of your camera.
The Power of PoE: Simplifying Your Installation
We have made it as simple as possible to hook up your surveillance cameras. All you need to do is plug the one end of the included Cat5e cable that has the weatherproof connector into the camera, and the other end into the NVR, PoE switch, or router.
This single Cat5e cable carries both the power and video transmission. There is no need for separate power like the old analog systems. From there, you plug your NVR into power and directly into your router and your cameras should automatically appear within minutes.
Extending Your Security Coverage
Need to cover a massive commercial lot or a long driveway? You can go up to 600ft with 2 cables 300ft long split between a router or PoE switch. Using a Montavue PoE Switch helps you bridge those long distances with zero data loss.
Bridging Extreme Distances Wirelessly
For scenes that require long-distance transmission, such as parks, scenic spots, and factories, a wireless bridge provides a great solution. The Montavue Wireless Bridge delivers a strong signal with its enhanced antenna, allowing the peer-to-peer transmission distance to reach up to 3 km (9,842.52 ft).
Integrating this Montavue Wireless Bridge device into a point-to-point (PTP) or point-to-multipoint (PTMP) network design brings reliable performance with these powerful features:
-
High-Speed Throughput: The device has a throughput rate that is higher than 500 Mbps through its powerful hardware.
-
Simplified Power: The device also supports PoE input and PoE output (802.3af), effectively simplifying installation.
-
Weatherproof Design: IP67 rated, it is suitable for outdoor scenes and withstands severe weather.
-
Easy Management: With its built-in 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, the device can be wirelessly accessed and configured.
