Firmware updates can resolve bugs, enhance performance, and introduce new features that may have been omitted in previous versions. If your camera is functioning properly, updating is optional. This guide outlines methods to update your camera and locate the latest firmware.
Prerequisite:
Ensure you know your camera’s exact model number, as many Montavue models have similar names.
1. Locating the Firmware Update

Visit Montavue.com in your web browser.

Click the Help Center button at the top of the page.

Navigate to the Downloads section and select the Camera category.

Search for your camera’s model number to find its firmware.

If no update appears, your camera may already be up to date.

Download the firmware file to your computer or a flash drive.
2. Updating Your Camera
Method 1: Updating via the NVR (Direct Connection)
Prepare the Flash Drive

Transfer the firmware file to a FAT32-formatted flash drive.

Insert the drive into the NVR. A menu will appear—right-click to close it.

Access the Update Menu

Right-click on the live view screen.

Go to Main Menu > Camera > Camera List > Update.

Install the Update

Check the box next to the camera you wish to update.

Click File Update (bottom right).

Select the firmware file from your flash drive.

The camera will update and reboot automatically.
Method 2: Updating via the NVR (Web Interface)
Access the NVR Remotely

Option 1 (IP Address):

Enter your NVR’s IP address into a web browser (found under Main Menu > Network > TCP/IP). Note: Your device must be on the same network.

Option 2 (Montavue Go PC):

Open the Montavue Go Desktop Application.

Click Device CFG in the Main Menu, select your NVR, then click Link to Web.

Initiate the Update

Log into the NVR’s web interface and go to Settings > Camera.

Under Camera List, click Update at the top.

Check the camera you want to update, then click Browse to locate the firmware file on your computer.

Click File Update (bottom right). The camera will reboot once complete.
Method 3: Updating via Camera (Direct PoE Connection)
Access the Camera Directly

Enter the camera’s IP address into a web browser.

Log in using your credentials and click Settings.

Upload the Firmware

Navigate to System > Upgrade.

Click Browse, select the firmware file, then click Upgrade.

The camera will install the update and restart.
